INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING APPLICATION FORM

   
 
  1. Applicant may write fields in BLOCK LETTERS. 

  2. Only one person can apply in one form.

  3. A person who has not attained the age of 18 years is considered as minor. In case of minor who cannot sign, his/her left thumb impression may be placed in the Signature Box.  

  4. Signature/Thumb impression should be confined to the prescribed box. In case of minor applicants, parent should NOT sign in the box.  

  5. Photograph to be affixed on the application should be of square shape of 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) size (with 80% coverage by face). It should have plain light color background without border with front view of person's head and shoulders showing the full face in the middle of the photograph. It should not be stapled and should not have any signature. Photographs that do not conform to these standards will be rejected and may cause a delay in processing the applications. Standards of acceptable photographs are explained in the SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPH.

  6. After submission of online application, a copy of the application form will be printed with an Online Registration Number. Application form, complete in all respects, along with all relevant enclosures and requisite fee may be submitted to the Indian Mission/Post/Office in whose jurisdiction the applicant is ordinarily residing irrespective of the fact whether the same Indian Mission/Post/Office has issued the original OCI documents or not

  7. ENCLOSURES:

  1. OCI registration certificate and visa:

  1. In case of issuance of new passport, copy of U-visa pasted on the old passport along with copy of registration certificate has to be enclosed. If the old passport is not returned by the concerned  authorities while issuing new passport, and copy of the U-visa had  not been taken prior to the surrender of old passport, it may not  be enclosed. A copy of new passport is also to be enclosed.
     

  2. In case of loss of OCI Registration Certificate and/or Visa, copy of the complaint lodged with Police authorities and copy of visa and OCI registration certificate be enclosed. If a copy of the registration certificate and/or visa was not taken prior to the loss, they may not be enclosed.
     

  3. In case of change of personal particulars (due to change by the  applicant or wrong filling of particulars by the applicant or Indian  Mission/Office), copy of the document(s) relevant for affecting  the requisite changes, viz., Nationality Certificate in case of change of nationality etcetera be enclosed.

  1. Fees:

  1. US $25 (Bs.F 125) for re-issuance of OCI documents in case of issuance of new passport, change of personal particulars, wrong filing of particulars. In case  of applications filed in India, a demand draft for Rs.1,290 drawn in favour of "Pay and Accounts Officer (Secretariat),  Ministry of Home Affairs" payable at New Delhi has to be  enclosed. 
     

  2. US $100 (Bs.F 500) for issuance of duplicate OCI documents in case of loss/damage. In case of application filed in India, an amount of Rs.5,170 has to be paid.

  1. Change of address/occupation:

  1. No hard copy of the application shall be submitted to the Indian Mission/Post/Office.
     

  2. Accordingly the issue of enclosures and payment of fee does not arise.

  1. Both OCI registration certificate and visa shall be issued in respect of any or all services, except in the case of only change of address/occupation. Generally, the new OCI documents shall be issued only after cancellation of the old OCI documents.

  2. The documents enclosed with the application should be self-attested.

  3. Applicants may check that all fields in the form are filled in and all necessary enclosures are attached before submission of the form.

  4. This form when completed should be submitted:

  1. In India, to "The Under Secretary, OCI Cell, Foreigners Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Jaisalmer House, 26 Man Singh Road, New Delhi - 110 011". Or, to the concerned Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) if the applicant is resident of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Amritsar. 
     

  2. Outside India, to the Indian Mission/Post in whose jurisdiction the applicant is ordinarily residing irrespective of the fact whether the same Indian Mission/Post had issued the original OCI documents or not.

  1. Concealment of any material fact or false representation, etcetera, will lead to cancellation of registration as Overseas Citizen of India. Applicant may refer to Section 7D of the Citizenship Act in this regard.
