Visit of His Excellency Mr. Jesus Antonio Montilla Aponte,
Governor of the State of Falcon of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ,
to the Republic of India 26 – 30 April 2006

His Excellency Mr. Jesus Antonio Montilla Aponte, Governor of the State of Falcon of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela , visited India from April 26 to 30, 2006, accompanied by his wife.

The Governor was hosted a lunch by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of the Republic of India, Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, and had discussions on the excellent state of relations between India and Venezuela.

The Governor also visited the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, and the statue of Simon Bolivar on the avenue named after the Liberator.

The Governor also visited the city of Agra , which houses the world-famous mausoleum of the Taj Mahal.

The Governor had discussions with the railway authorities of India on the railway project planned to be executed by the Indian State railway enterprise, IRCON International Limited, in the State of Falcon in Venezuela .

The Governor was also given a detailed exposition of the coir industry in India , and projects which are made out of coconut fiber such as mats, jewellery, etc. Further studies will be conducted to take advantage of the coconut resources in Falcon State to enable these resources to be industrialized in the manner that has been done in India .

The Governor also met Indian businessmen at an event hosted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), where he provided an insight into the possible areas in which the Indian industry can participate in Venezuela , particularly in the State of Falcon .
