Vth Gastronomical & Cultural Festival of India Hotel J.W. Marriott The Embassy of India in Caracas supported by the Department of Tourism of the Government of India organized a Festival of India, at the Hotel J.W. Marriott in Caracas , Venezuela . The Vth Gastronomical & Cultural Festival of India was organised in Hotel Marriott Caracas, 13-26 October, 2008 wherein an Indian chef was flown from Hotel Marriott in Mumbai and a classical and folk dance group from Trinidad and Tobago performed Indian dances during the entire Festival period. The inauguration on October 14 was attended by more than 400 guests including the VIPs, officials of the government, diplomatic corps, university professors, ITEC alumnies, those associated with India Study Circles, member of the media and Indian community. The Hotel Marriott was also embellished with Indian handicrafts, lavish costumes and other presentations on India to welcome visitors for the two-week long Festival which offered buffet with speciality Indian dishes for lunch and dinner as well as Indian snacks and sweets at its coffee shop. Indian feature films and documentaries to promote tourism to India were put up on closed circuit TV all over in the Hotel. The event was reported in various local newspapers.
