INNAUGURATION OF INDIAN CHAIR / STUDY COURSE
"INDIA IN THE XXIst CENTURY"
UNIVERSITY OF LOS ANDES

H.E. Deepak Bhojwani, Ambassador of India to Venezuela and the Authorities of ULA (University of Los Andes) jointly innaugurated the Chair/Study Course on India "India in the XXIst Century in the facilities of this univesity in Mérida, Venezuela. This event included the inauguration of the Photographic Exhibition of Mahatma Ghandi, a conference titled "Where is India Headed in the XXIst Century", given by Ambassador Bhojwani and in the following days, a workshop called "India of Yesterday and Today, (Cultural Diversity , Contemporaneity and Art " took place and several documentaries on India were broadcasted over ULA TV.

The University Council approved on april 24th, 2006, the project for the Chair / Study Course "India in the XXIst Century", presented by H.E. Ambassador Bhojwani during the baptism ceremony of the Autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi on November 14th, 2005.
This is the first time that an academic proposal is approved for the promotion of knowledge between India and Venezuela. The coordinator of the Chair / Study Course is Professor Hernan Lucena Molero, director of the Centre for African and Asian Studies of the ULA and the Technical Council is formed by Dr. Ismael Cejas Armas, Professor Elias capriles and Mrs. Maria Gabriela Mata, investigating memebers of the CAAS. It is available to all those who are interested in cooperating in the study and promotion of the relations between India and Venezuela.
