Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme was launched in 1964 as a bilateral programme of assistance of the Government of India. So far professionals from more than 156 countries in Asia, East Europe, Central asia, africa and latin America have been benefited by this. Under this programme, in 47 premier institutes of India, short-term training courses for professionals are organized for periods ranging FROM four weeks to two years.

Every year, several scholarships are granted for professionals in Venezuela in various disciplines, The applicants must speak English, which is the medium of instruction in all the institutes. The scholarsho includes to and fro air fare, cost of training, accommodation and out of pocket allowancer of around US $ 220 per month. The applicants can get information and application froms through the Ministries of Education/Planning and Developpment/External relations of the Government of Venezuela or approach the Embassy, which interviews them before recommending their names for the scholarship.
In the past, utilization of ITEC slots has been rather slow and sporadic, mainly on account of language difficulties faced by Venezuelans. However, the five slots allocated by the Ministry of External Affairs for the year 2004-5 have been fully utilized. The number of ITEC slots to Venezuela has since been doubled to ten for 2005-06, and again increased to 15 for 2007-2008.

The Government of India provides scholarships for short term ITEC Courses. Attached herewith is the booklet which provides information on various courses. Interested persons should apply, in the prescribed from, through their own Ministries/Departments or The Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will recommend the application to the Embassy of India in Caracas .

The employees and officials of the Government, Public Sector Enterprises, Universities and Chamber of Commerce and Industries are eligible to apply for Scholarship under ITEC program. The scholarship covers free international airfare, tuition fees, accommodation, medical and health care and out of pocket expenses (living allowance). The Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India gives the scholarship.

The applicant must be well conversant in English language to be able to follow the course. He/She should be in good health and certificate to these effects must be provided as per the applications form attached.

Applications will be sent to the training institutes in India who will scrutinize the applications of the candidates and the eligibility from technical point of view including educational qualification and work experience. The final decision for grant of scholarship rests with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Upon selection, the Indian Embassy in Caracas would inform the concerned authorities in Venezuela . The Indian Embassy would brief the selected candidates about the training Programme in India and will also provide an economy/tourist class return air ticket to the candidates for their travel to India

ICCR

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) awards scholarships for regular courses of higher studiers to candidates in countries which have a bilateral Cultural Exchange Program with India. The scholarship is awarded in almost all the disciplines of regular study except medicine.
